The Sierra Designs “60/40 Mountain Parka” Was The Masterpiece Of The Century When It Was Released In 1968. The “Panamint”, A Lighter Version Of The Mountain Parka, Was Developed In The 70S To Carry On The Explosive Popularity Of The 60/40 Mountain Parka. At The Time, The Panamint Was A Staple Item Alongside The Mountain Parka And The Short Parka, And Was Hugely Popular At West Coast Colleges. The “60/40” Is A Fabric With A Golden Ratio Of 60% Cotton In The Weft And 40% Nylon In The Warp, And The More You Wear It, The More It Gets Its Texture. It Is Less Stiff Than 100% Cotton And More Resistant To Abrasion Than 100% Nylon. When It Absorbs Water, The Weft Cotton Yarns Expand And Seal The Weave, Making It Waterproof And Windproof.
